Chapter 3
3“And—unto—the—messenger—of—the—church—in—Sardis—write:—These—things—says—he—who—has—the—seven—Spirits—of—God—and—the—seven—stars;—I—know—thy—works,—that—you—have—a—name—that—you—live,—and—are—dead.—
2Be—watchful—and—establish—the—things—which—remainʳ,—that—were—about—to—die:—for—I—have—not—found—thy—works—complete—before—my—God.—
3Remember—therefore—how—you—have—received—and—heard,—and—keep—it,—and—repent.—If,—therefore,—you—will—not—watch,—I—will—come—as—a—thief,—and—you—will—in—no—way—knowᵍ—what—hour—I—will—come—upon—you.—
4But—you—have—little—names—in—Sardis—who—have—not—defiled—their—garments;—and—they—shall—walk—with—me—in—white:—for—they—are—worthy.—
5He—who—overcomes—shall—so—be—clothed—in—white—garments;—and—I—will—in—no—way—wipe—his—name—from—the—book—of—life,—but—I—will—confess—his—name—before—my—Father—and—before—his—messengers.—
6He—who—has—an—ear,—let—him—hear—what—the—Spirit—says—unto—the—churches.”—
7“And—to—the—messenger—of—the—church—in—Philadelphia—write:—These—things—says—he—who—is—holy,—who—is—true,—who—has—the—key—of—David,—who—opens—and—none—shall—shut;—and—shuts—and—none—opens;—
8I—know—thy—works:—behold,—I—have—given—before—you—an—open—door,—and—none—can—shut—it:—for—you—have—small—might,—and—have—kept—my—word,—and—have—not—denied—my—name.—
9Behold,—I—give—them—of—the—synagogue—of—Satan,—who—say—they—are—Jews,—and—are—not,—but—do—lie.—Behold,—I—will—make—them—to—come—and—worship—before—thy—feet—and—to—knowᵍ—that—I—have—loved—you.—
10Because—you—have—kept—the—word—of—my—patience,—I—also—will—keep—you—from—the—hour—of—testing,—which—is—about—to—come—upon—the—whole—inhabited-world,—to—test—those—who—dwell—upon—the—earth.—
11I—come—quickly:—hold—that—fast—which—you—have,—that—no—one—take—thy—crown.—
12Him—who—overcomes—will—I—make—a—pillar—in—the—temple—of—my—God,—and—he—shall—go—no—more—out,—and—I—will—write—upon—him—the—name—of—my—God,—and—the—name—of—the—city—of—my—God,—which—is—the—new—Jerusalem,—which—comes—down—out—of—heaven—from—my—God,—and—my—new—name.—
13He—who—has—an—ear,—let—him—hear—what—the—Spirit—says—unto—the—churches.”—
14“And—unto—the—messenger—of—the—church—in—Laodicea—write:—These—things—says—the—Amen,—the—faithful—and—true—witness,—the—beginning—of—the—creation—of—God;—
15I—know—thy—works,—that—you—are—neither—cold—nor—hot.—I—would—you—were—cold—or—hot.—
16So—then,—because—you—are—lukewarm—and—neither—cold—nor—hot,—I—am—about—to—vomit—you—out—of—my—mouth.—
17Because—you—say,—‘I—am—rich,—and—have—grown—rich,—and—have—need—of—nothing,’—and—know—not—that—you—are—wretched,—and—miserable,—and—poor,—and—blind,—and—naked:—
18I—counsel—you—to—buy—of—me—gold—refined—by—fireᶠ,—that—you—may—grow—rich;—and—white—garments,—that—you—may—be—clothed—and—that—the—shame—of—thy—nakedness—be—not—made—manifest;—and—eyesalve—to—anoint—thine—eyes,—that—you—may—see.—
19As—many—as—I—hold—dear,—I—rebuke—and—chasten:—be—zealous—therefore—and—repent.—
20Behold,—I—stand—at—the—door—and—knock:—if—any—man—hear—my—voice—and—opens—the—door,—I—will—enter—unto—him,—and—will—sup—with—him,—and—he—with—me.—
21To—him—who—overcomes—will—I—give—to—sit—with—me—in—my—throne,—even—as—I—also—overcame—and—sat—down—with—my—Father—in—his—throne.—
22He—who—has—an—ear,—let—him—hear—what—the—Spirit—says—unto—the—churches.”—
