Chapter 3

3And¹Καὶunto the²τῷmessenger³ἀγγέλῳof the⁴τῆςchurch⁷ἐκκλησίαςin⁵ἐνSardis⁶Σάρδεσινwrite:⁸γράψονThese things⁹τάδεsays¹⁰λέγειhe who¹¹ὁhas¹²ἔχωνthe¹³τὰseven¹⁴ἑπτὰSpirits¹⁵πνεύματαof God^16,17τοῦ θεοῦand¹⁸καὶthe¹⁹τοὺςseven²⁰ἑπτὰstars;²¹ἀστέραςI know²²οἶδάyour²³σουworks,^24,25τὰ ἔργαthat²⁶ὅτιyou have²⁸ἔχειςa name²⁷ὄνομαthat²⁹ὅτιyou live,³⁰ζῇςand³¹καὶare³³εἶdead.³²νεκρὸς

2Be¹γίνουwatchful²γρηγορῶνand³καὶestablish⁴στήρισονthe⁵τὰthings which remainʳ,⁶λοιπὰthat⁷ἃwere about to⁸ἔμελλονdie:⁹ἀποθανεῖνfor¹¹γὰρI have not¹⁰οὐfound¹²εὕρηκάyour¹³σουworks^14,15τὰ ἔργαcomplete¹⁶πεπληρωμέναbefore¹⁷ἐνώπιονmy²⁰μουGod.^18,19τοῦ θεοῦ

3Remember¹μνημόνευεtherefore²οὖνhow³πῶςyou have received⁴εἴληφαςand⁵καὶheard,⁶ἤκουσαςand⁷καὶkeep⁸τήρειit,—and⁹καὶrepent.¹⁰μετανόησονIf,¹¹ἐὰνtherefore,¹²οὖνyou do¹⁴→not¹³μὴwatch,¹⁴γρηγορήσῃςI will come¹⁵ἥξωas¹⁶ὡςa thief,¹⁷κλέπτηςand¹⁸καὶyou²¹→will in no way^19,20οὐ μὴknowᵍ²¹γνῷςwhat²²ποίανhour²³ὥρανI will come²⁴ἥξωupon²⁵ἐπὶyou.²⁶σέ

4But¹ἀλλyou have²ἔχειςlittle³ὀλίγαnames⁴ὀνόματαin⁵ἐνSardis⁶Σάρδεσινwho⁷ἃhave⁹→not⁸οὐκdefiled⁹ἐμόλυνανtheir¹²αὐτῶνgarments;^10,11τὰ ἱμάτιαand¹³καὶthey will walk¹⁴περιπατήσουσινwith¹⁵μετme¹⁶ἐμοῦin¹⁷ἐνwhite:¹⁸λευκοῖςfor¹⁹ὅτιworthy²⁰ἄξιοίare they.²¹εἰσιν

5He who¹ὁovercomes²νικῶνwill⁴→so³οὕτωςbe clothed⁴περιβαλεῖταιin⁵ἐνwhite⁷λευκοῖςgarments;⁶ἱματίοιςand⁸καὶI¹¹→will in no way^9,10οὐ μὴwipe¹¹ἐξαλείψωhis¹⁴αὐτοῦname^12,13τὸ ὄνομαfrom¹⁵ἐκthe¹⁶τῆςscroll¹⁷βίβλουof life,^18,19τῆς ζωῆςand²⁰καὶI will confess²¹ὁμολογήσωhis²⁴αὐτοῦname^22,23τὸ ὄνομαbefore²⁵ἐνώπιονmy²⁸μουFather^26,27τοῦ πατρόςand²⁹καὶbefore³⁰ἐνώπιονhis³³αὐτοῦmessengers.^31,32τῶν ἀγγέλων

6He who¹ὁhas²ἔχωνan ear,³οὖςlet him hear⁴ἀκουσάτωwhat⁵τίthe⁶τὸSpirit⁷πνεῦμαsays⁸λέγειunto the⁹ταῖςchurches.¹⁰ἐκκλησίαις

7And¹Καὶunto the²τῷmessenger³ἀγγέλῳof the⁴τῆςchurch⁷ἐκκλησίαςin⁵ἐνPhiladelphia⁶Φιλαδελφείᾳwrite:⁸γράψονThese things⁹τάδεsays¹⁰λέγειhe who¹¹ὁis—holy,¹²ἅγιοςwho¹³ὁis—true,¹⁴ἀληθινόςwho¹⁵ὁhas¹⁶ἔχωνthe¹⁷τὴνkey¹⁸κλεῖνof David,¹⁹Δαυίδwho²⁰ὁopens²¹ἀνοίγωνand²²καὶnone²³οὐδεὶςwill shut;²⁴κλείσειand²⁵καὶshuts²⁶κλείωνand²⁷καὶnone²⁸οὐδεὶςopens;²⁹ἀνοίγει

8I know¹οἶδάyour²σουworks:^3,4τὰ ἔργαbehold,⁵ἰδοὺI have given⁶δέδωκαbefore⁷ἐνώπιόνyou⁸σουan⁹→open¹⁰ἠνεῳγμένηνdoor,⁹θύρανwhich^11,15ἣν αὐτήνnone¹²οὐδεὶςcan¹³δύναταιshut:¹⁴κλεῖσαιfor¹⁶ὅτιyou have¹⁸ἔχειςsmall¹⁷μικρὰνmight,¹⁹δύναμινand²⁰καὶhave kept²¹ἐτήρησάςmy²²μουword,^23,24τὸν λόγονand²⁵καὶhave²⁷→not²⁶οὐκdenied²⁷ἠρνήσωmy³⁰μουname.^28,29τὸ ὄνομά

9Behold,—I—give—them—of—the—synagogue—of—Satan,—who—say—they—are—Jews,—and—are—not,—but—lie.—Behold,—I—will—make—them—to—come—and—worship—before—your—feet—and—to—knowᵍ—that—I—have—loved—you.—

10Because—you—have—kept—the—word—of—my—patience,—I—also—will—keep—you—from—the—hour—of—testing,—which—is—about—to—come—upon—the—whole—inhabited-world,—to—test—those—who—dwell—on—the—earth.—

11I—come—quickly:—hold—fast—what—you—have,—that—none—take—your—crown.—

12Him—who—overcomes—will—I—make—a—pillar—in—the—temple—of—my—God,—and—he—will—go—out—no—more,—and—I—will—write—on—him—the—name—of—my—God,—and—the—name—of—the—city—of—my—God,—the—new—Jerusalem,—which—comes—down—out—of—heaven—from—my—God,—and—my—new—name.—

13He—who—has—an—ear,—let—him—hear—what—the—Spirit—says—unto—the—churches.—

14And—unto—the—messenger—of—the—church—in—Laodicea—write:—These—things—says—the—Amen,—the—faithful—and—true—witness,—the—beginning—of—the—creation—of—God;—

15I—know—your—works,—that—you—are—neither—cold—nor—hot.—I—would—you—were—cold—or—hot.—

16So,—because—you—are—lukewarm—and—neither—hot—nor—cold,—I—am—about—to—vomit—you—out—of—my—mouth.—

17Because—you—say,—I—am—rich,—and—have—grown—rich,—and—have—need—of—nothing,—and—know—not—that—you—are—wretched,—and—miserable,—and—poor,—and—blind,—and—naked:—

18I—counsel—you—to—buy—from—me—gold—fired—by—fire,—that—you—may—grow—rich;—and—white—garments,—that—you—may—be—clothed—and—that—the—shame—of—your—nakedness—be—not—made—manifest;—and—eyesalve—to—anoint—your—eyes,—that—you—may—see.—

19As—many—as—I—hold—dear,—I—rebuke—and—chasten:—be—zealous—therefore—and—repent.—

20Behold,—I—stand—at—the—door—and—knock:—if—any—man—hears—my—voice—and—opens—the—door,—[and]—I—will—enter—unto—him,—and—will—sup—with—him,—and—he—with—me.—

21Unto—him—who—overcomes—will—I—give—to—sit—with—me—in—my—throne,—as—I—also—overcame—and—sat—down—with—my—Father—in—his—throne.—

22He—who—has—an—ear,—let—him—hear—what—the—Spirit—says—unto—the—churches.—
